We are 6 months (24 weeks) along our journey to second-time parenthood.
“Your uterus is now the size of a soccer ball.”
Read that, looked down and though, “Yup. Sure is.” LOL #paleopregnancy
How much bigger will he get? My first son was 10 lbs and 22 inches at birth.
I’m hoping this one won’t get quite that heavy!
More than halfway through this pregnancy, things have normalized for the most part, with the exception of that “soccer ball effect”, making it impossible to bend. All the early pregnancy symptoms have disappeared – nausea, fatigue, digestive issues, big appetite, etc.
I envy all the Paleo Preggers who had few to none of these challenges. I guess they can still come with the territory even when living Paleo and eating a nutrient-dense diet.
I feel truly blessed, receiving this miracle child. I know every life is a miracle, but this one even moreso than most. Against all odds, a healthy boy is expected in September to a
47-year-old mother with two autoimmune disorders.
According to a number of medical sites, the chances of a woman over age 42 conceiving with her own DNA is less than 1%. it drops even lower at age 45. In my case, cut that in half due to a missing fallopian tube (from an ectopic pregnancy) and that comes to less than 1/2% chance of even getting pregnant! Of those pregnancies, 55+% tragically do not survive the first trimester. Serious chromosome defects are also a concern for these older mothers.
This boy got past ALL of that!
We are looking forward to meeting little Max in the Fall!
